2-Methyl-D-phenylalanine is a derivative of D-Phenylalanine, the stereoisomer of L-Phenylalanine used in the synthesis of Schaeffer's acid analogs as important structures in tuberculostatic design. These analogs exhibit the ability to inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis type II dehydroquinase.
