1. Identification of a novel HLA-DOB-allele, DOB*010103, by sequence-based typing in the Korean population
J-K Lee,H Gu,B Oh Tissue Antigens . 2005 Mar;65(3):287-8. doi: 10.1111/j.1399-0039.2005.00375.x.
A new DOB allele, DOB*010103, was identified in the Korean population during sequence-based HLA-DOB typing. DOB*010103 differed from DOB*01010101 only at codon 6 (GAT-->GAC), corresponding to synonymous amino acid change (Asp-->Asp).

We isolated from head extracts of Tenebrio molitor a peptide that inhibits fluid secretion by the Malpighian tubules of this insect. This second antidiuretic factor, ADFb, like the previously published ADFa, works through cyclic GMP as a second messenger. It has primary structure Tyr-Asp-Asp-Gly-Ser-Tyr-Lys-Pro-His-Ile-Tyr-Gly-Phe-OH with an EC(50) of approximately 240 pM in a fluid secretion assay. This peptide is now the second sequenced endogenous insect ADF which inhibits Malpighian tubule fluid secretion. Immunohistochemical techniques show that the peptide is localized in the brain; it appears to be produced mainly in two pairs of bilaterally symmetrical cells in the protocerebrum.
3. Isolation and amino acid sequence of gamma-lipotropin from human pituitary glands
D Chung,C H Li,D Yamashiro Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A . 1980 Dec;77(12):7214-7. doi: 10.1073/pnas.77.12.7214.
gamma-Lipotropin has been purified to homogeneity from human pituitary glands. It consists of 56 amino acids with one residue each of Trp, Thr, Val, Tyr, and Phe. The amino acid sequence has been determined as follows: H-Glu-Leu-Thr-Gly-Gln-Arg-Leu-Arg-Gln-Gly-Asp-Gly-Pro-Asn-Ala-Gly-Ala-Asp-Asp-G ly-Pro-Gly-Ala-Gln-Ala-Asp-Leu-Glu-His-Ser-Leu-Leu-Val-Ala-Ala-Glu-Lys-Lys-Asp- Glu-Gly-Pro-Tyr-Arg-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Arg-Trp-Gly-Ser-Pro-Pro-Lys-Asp-OH. Comparison with the structure of the ovine and porcine hormones reveals that the 23-amino-acid sequence at the COOH terminus is highly conserved in evolution.
4. Aspartic acid as a trap for gamma-radiation energy in the amorphous Al5(OH)15(Asp)3.3H2O
V Nöthig-Laslo,H Bilinski,T A Himdan Radiat Res . 1992 Sep;131(3):266-71.
Paramagnetic molecular centers produced by gamma irradiation at 77 K and at room temperature in the novel compound Al5(OH)15(Asp)3.3H2O were studied by ESR spectroscopy. The g value of 2.0034 and the lack of such lines in pure aluminum hydroxide suggested that all the paramagnetic centers observed are related to the aspartic acid molecule. However, none of the paramagnetic centers gave an ESR spectrum characteristic for gamma-irradiated pure aspartic acid powder. The influence of the oxygen on the formation of the paramagnetic centers was noticed. The extreme stability of the paramagnetic molecular centers formed in Al5(OH)15(Asp)3.3H2O suggests that aspartic acid complexed in aluminum hydroxide is a good trap for gamma-radiation energy.
