Pleurain-a2 is an antimicrobial peptide found in Rana pleuraden (Yunnan pond frog). It has activity against the gram-positive bacterium S.aureus ATCC2592 (MIC=15 µg/ml), the gram-negative bacteria E.coli ATCC25922 (MIC=60 µg/ml), B.dysenteriae (MIC=60 µg/ml), H.pylori NTCT11637 (MIC=30 µg/ml), and the fungus C.albicans ATCC2002 (MIC=30 µg/ml). It has little hemolytic activity on rabbit red blood cells.
