Pyr-Pro-Arg-pNA, a chromogenic substrate, has been used to determine the kinetic constants of tryptase (EC 3.4.21.59) from guinea pig (Km = 0.24-0.26 mM) and human (Km = 0.24-0.43 mM). It has also been used as a substrate for the coagulation factor XIa with Km and kcat values of 0.56 mM and 350 s^-1, respectively.
