Ranatuerin-6 is an antimicrobial peptide found in Rana catesbeiana (Lithobates catesbeianus, North American bull frog), and has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacterium S.aureus (MIC=100 µM). It shows no detectable hemolytic activity towards human erythrocytes. It can inhibit HIV infection <10% at a concentration that is also toxic to T cells.
